The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce is proud to establish the Edinburg Historic Square Council, a distinguished advisory body designed to lead the comprehensive revitalization and long-term stewardship of the city’s cherished Downtown Historic Square. This select council will consist of ten accomplished and influential members, carefully appointed by the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce Board. Representing a balanced cross-section of expertise and stakeholder interests, the council will include a visionary Chair, dedicated leaders in fundraising and events, creative branding and design, business recruitment and retention, downtown property ownership, tourism and cultural heritage (with direct liaison to the Museum of South Texas History), city government, digital marketing and social media, finance and sponsorship management, and prominent at-large community legacy figures. Working in close collaboration with the City of Edinburg and the Museum of South Texas History, the Council serves as the primary strategic and visionary authority for the Square’s renaissance. Its core responsibilities encompass guiding all branding and identity initiatives, curating a vibrant calendar of public programming and events, spearheading fundraising and sponsorship efforts, directing physical beautification and infrastructure enhancements, and overseeing a transparent, restricted Downtown Square Revitalization Fund held within the Chamber’s financial structure. All expenditure recommendations from the Council are subject to final ratification by the Chamber Board, ensuring strong fiduciary oversight while preserving the Council’s decisive influence and agility. By harnessing the Chamber’s established nonprofit infrastructure, the Edinburg Historic Square Council combines maximum prestige, community ownership, and operational effectiveness with minimal administrative burden—delivering a powerful, enduring platform for transforming the Historic Square into a thriving economic, cultural, and social heart of Edinburg.
